This chapter explains the used terminology in the API reference chapter.

Product

A SCALAR product groups multiple services offered by the SCALAR Developer portal that all revolve around the same business theme. A product can tackle multiple purposes and resources.

A product can be identified by the fact that all API endpoints are grouped under a unique base URL.
An example is the product 'Geoservices'. The product revolves around geoservices and contains two key purposes:
manage places & on places set alarm definitions.

Resource

A resource represents a business core entity that has certain properties and in most cases reflects to real physical business object. Example are assets, users, integrators, alarms.
